Create Real Performance

With your passion for embedded software development, you will be part of an international team providing the firmware for Hilti’s cutting-edge cordless power tools. In this role you will work closely together with electronics, motor-control and drive-system experts in interdisciplinary project teams. Building upon pre-qualified modules and components, you will be responsible for delivering the final production-ready software that makes our products stand out in the market.

What You'll do

  • Take end-to-end ownership of embedded software for power tool projects—from first prototype to series production—as the key software contact in the project
  • Build upon pre-developed software components (e.g. motor control, hardware abstraction, mechatronic features) to create and extend product-specific functionality
  • Shape tool performance by parameterizing and tuning software, especially in motor control applications
  • Turn system and stakeholder requirements into high-quality, reliable embedded solutions
  • Collaborate in a highly interdisciplinary environment with electronics, motor, and project teams
  • Work hands-on with real hardware, driving debugging, testing, and validation in the lab
  • Plan and steer software activities, including task breakdown, timelines, releases, and risk management
  • Deliver robust, production-ready software using modern engineering practices (CI/CD, automated testing, integration & validation)

What You’ll Bring

  • 2+ years of professional experience in embedded software development (3–5 years typical; strong candidates with less experience are also welcome)
  • Proactive, hands-on mindset with a strong drive to solve problems and move topics forward
  • Strong knowledge of microcontrollers, embedded systems, and solid programming skills in embedded C (C++ is a plus)
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science, or a comparable field
  • Good analytical and conceptual skills, with a structured and goal-oriented way of working
  • Understanding of system-level interactions between software, electronics, and electromechanical components, with an awareness of maintainable and reusable software design
  • Confident communication skills and experience working in interdisciplinary, international teams
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are an advantage
