Scientific Innovator – AI-Driven Engineering (f/m/d)
Responsibilities
- Scout emerging technologies in AI, design automation, mechanical engineering, and simulation
- Develop prototypes and PoCs (e.g. neural networks, surrogate models, agentic workflows, LLM‐based engineering assistants)
- Develop AI‐driven (digital twin / hybrid) models for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and lifecycle optimization by integrating sensor data, simulation results, and engineering domain knowledge
- Conduct applied research: formulate hypotheses, train models, validate results, and analyze data.
- Transfer research into robust, scalable solutions for engineering and operations
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product development teams in DE/USA
- Document results and contribute to internal knowledge sharing
- After a three-year program in Weinheim, transfer to our Wolfratshausen location – with a focus on the application and scaling of AI-supported engineering solutions in the area of R&D
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in engineering, computational sciences, physics, materials, or related fields
- Experience in applied research or industrial development
- Skills in at least two areas: neural networks, GenAI/LLMs & agentic systems, surrogate models, data analytics, simulation (FEM/CFD), MLOps or platform development
- Strong programming skills (Python)
- Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow; familiarity with GenAI tooling (e.g., LangChain) is a plus
- Ability to communicate complex topics clearly in English/German; collaborative working style
