The future looks like you
With over 1,300 stores in 17 European countries and more than 25,000 employees, C&A is one of Europe’s leading fashion retailers. Every day, C&A welcomes millions of visitors to its stores in Europe and to its online shop. We are building on more than 180 years of experience in the fashion industry and continuously modernize the company to become an omnichannel fashion retailer.
As a Platform Engineer, you take end-to-end ownership of the foundation that accelerates our digital transformation. You don't just build the platform – you own it. You define its direction, prioritize its evolution, and are accountable for the value it delivers to product teams. By providing a secure, scalable Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and modern cloud connectivity, you balance developer autonomy with operational excellence and strategic alignment
Your responsibilities
- Own & Evolve the Platform:You are the accountable owner of our Internal Developer Platform. You define its roadmap, prioritize investments, and drive adoption. You use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure the platform is scalable, self-service, and continuously improving.
- Cloud Architecture & Connectivity:You make key architectural decisions for our AWS-based landscape and the integrations that connect it. You design and govern the "glue" – APIs, Event-Driven Architectures – that enables secure, reliable data flow across systems. You ensure architectural decisions are well-documented and aligned with enterprise standards.
- Reliability, Security & Governance:You are responsible for the platform's reliability, observability (Monitoring/Logging), and security posture. You define and enforce standards, integrate compliance controls into platform workflows, and ensure that what ships meets the bar you set
- Strategy & Stakeholder Alignment:You work closely with Architecture, Engineering, Security, and leadership to align the platform strategy with business goals. You translate technical capabilities into business value, manage expectations across teams, and actively shape how the platform is perceived and adopted across the organization.
- Enable & Inspire Teams:You define "Golden Paths" in collaboration with architects and dev teams and drive their adoption. You act as a multiplier – your platform decisions and enablement work let dozens of engineers move faster and safer.

What you bring
- Platform Ownership Mindset: You think in products, not projects. You take responsibility for outcomes, not just outputs. You care about adoption, developer experience, and the long-term health of what you build.
- Cloud Native: Deep experience with public cloud (AWS preferred) and container ecosystems (Docker). You understand not just how to use these tools, but how to govern and scale them across teams
- Automation First: You build platforms that eliminate toil for others. You are proficient in IaC (Terraform) and CI/CD, and you design with self-service in mind.
- Connectivity & Integration: Strong understanding of APIs, integration patterns, and Event Streaming (e.g., Kafka). You see the bigger picture of how systems connect and design accordingly.
- Coding Skills: You can write scripts or tools (Python, Bash, Java, Node or similar) and review code critically – you understand what your platform consumers are building
- Communication & Influence: You can translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, advocate for platform investments, and align diverse teams around a shared direction.
A Note on Requirements: Technology moves fast, and we don't expect you to know everything on day one. What we do expect is a sense of ownership – the drive to understand your domain deeply, make decisions with confidence, and bring others along. If you're a strong cloud architect ready to step into an ownership role, or a seasoned platform engineer looking to shape strategy – we want to hear from you.
Requisite Education and Experience:
Significant professional experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or DevOps – ideally with exposure to product or platform ownership responsibilities.
Degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in agile environments, ideally working across multiple teams or as a technical lead.
