Strategic Category Manager

Join our dynamic team at Hilti Headquarters in Liechtenstein as a Strategic Category Manager and dive into vital tasks such as Material Group Strategies, Purchasing Methodologies and Professional Negotiations. You will oversee all aspects of sourcing, utilizing your expertise to identify cost saving opportunities, foster competitive environments, negotiate creatively, and ensure availability of all products to support the organization.
This full-time position is available as soon as possible in our HQ in Schaan, Liechtenstein. The required travel is approximately 25%.

What You'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for defining and driving the global category strategy, shaping the future supplier landscape and ensuring a sustainable competitive advantage for Hilti. You will build strong strategic partnerships with key suppliers, lead complex negotiations, and leverage advanced sourcing methodologies to deliver impact across cost, innovation, quality, sustainability, and supply resilience.
You will work closely with key stakeholders across Business Units, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Sustainability, and regional organizations to align category strategies with business priorities and technology roadmaps. As the global category expert, you will actively shape the future supply landscape by identifying and developing strategic suppliers, driving supplier innovation, and optimizing end-to-end supply chain performance.
Through continuous analysis of market dynamics, industry trends, raw material developments, manufacturing technologies, and geopolitical factors, you will proactively identify opportunities and risks, define mitigation strategies, and ensure a resilient and competitive supply base. In addition, you will contribute to new product development, localization, and portfolio extension initiatives by defining sourcing concepts, securing supplier readiness, and providing category expertise to cross-functional project teams, thereby enabling successful execution of the business unit roadmap.

What You’ll Bring

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration
• Proven experience in purchasing or project management expertise in complex strategic sourcing projects with global cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in negotiation skills including researching and anticipating shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with and influence decisions across functions, cultures, and organizational levels
• Fluency in spoken and written English, additional languages are a plus
