Intern – Battery Testing & Data Analytics (m/f/x)

Kickstart your career at the intersection of battery technology and data-driven engineering. We are looking for a motivated intern with a strong interest in lithium ion battery testing and data analysis.
In this role, you will actively support our battery research team by developing scripts, automating test evaluation, and transforming complex experimental data into meaningful insights. You will gain hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment while working closely with experienced engineers and researchers on real industrial research projects at Hilti.
This internship has a flexible start date and runs for at least 6 months.

What You'll do

You will be part of an interdisciplinary battery research team working on the latest commercial lithium-ion cell technologies. Your responsibilities will focus strongly on data-oriented and programming tasks, including:

• Developing and maintaining MATLAB scripts and tools for automated data processing, evaluation, and visualization of battery test results
• Supporting battery performance and aging studies by analyzing experimental data sets
• Improving and standardizing data workflows and test evaluation methods
• Supporting laboratory testing activities (e.g., cell characterization, cycling tests) and linking experimental results with software-based analysis
• Documenting results and preparing clear technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders
  This role offers a strong balance between hands-on lab exposure and advanced data analysis/programming work.

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Energy Engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency in programming is required, along with experience in data analysis, algorithm development, and data visualization.
• Understanding of lithium-ion battery technology would be advantageous
• Fluency in English is required.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for contributing to a dynamic and stimulating international team.
• Troubleshooting skills and a self-reliant personality are highly valued.
