We are looking for a Strategic Commercial Partnerships Manager (m/f/d) to strengthen our Commercial Business Development team. This position can be filled at our headquarters team in Mannheim.
Your Tasks
As a seasoned commercial professional with comprehensive experience in the pharmaceutical market, you will manage and develop pan-European strategic partnerships and key accounts across Biosimilars, Vaccines, Generics (GX), and OTC/Consumer Health categories.
You will act as a strategic interface between key European manufacturing partners, PHOENIX country organisations, and internal stakeholders, driving sustainable value creation across PHOENIX's retail and wholesale businesses, including both physical and digital offerings.
- Build and develop pan‐European manufacturer relationships from transactional to long‐term strategic partnerships.
- Manage and grow key accounts using structured KAM frameworks within a complex matrix organization.
- Identify, analyze, and continuously reassess partner needs, growth opportunities, and joint business initiatives.
- Lead pan-European commercial negotiations and contract discussions, while supporting local market negotiations where required.
- Drive innovation and value creation across PHOENIX pharmacy concepts, franchise models, digital platforms, and partnership programs.
- Co-create and execute strategic commercial plans, campaigns, and growth initiatives with manufacturing partners and country organizations.
- Identify and deliver joint business opportunities through structured business reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate and support multi-country tenders, supplier proposals, and procurement initiatives in close collaboration with local commercial teams.
- Lead cross-functional and cross-country project teams to deliver optimized solutions for partners and customers.
- Collaborate closely with PHOENIX countries to ensure alignment, compliance, and sustainable Generics (GX) and OTC procurement outcomes.
- Plan and facilitate executive-level meetings, international partner summits, steering committees, and strategic reviews.
- Develop high-impact presentations, maintain CRM data, and provide reporting, forecasting, performance tracking, and business insights.
Your Profile
- University degree in business, economics, life sciences, supply chain, or related fields; PhD applicants welcome.
- 10+ years experience within the pharmaceutical industry, including significant exposure to pharmaceutical wholesale procurement, pharmacy retail procurement, strategic sourcing, manufacturer negotiations, or related commercial procurement functions.
- Proven experience managing large strategic partnerships, key accounts, procurement agreements, or commercial relationships at an international level.
- Strong strategic, commercial, and negotiation skills, including effective engagement at C‐level.
- Highly customer‐oriented, with a clear focus on long‐term, value‐based partnerships.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical distribution, pharmacy retail operations, procurement models, manufacturer engagement, and market dynamics across Europe.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills in international environments.
- Entrepreneurial, solution‐oriented mindset with strong personal drive and accountability and resilience.
- Structured, analytical, and results-oriented approach, with success operating in cross-functional matrix organizations.
- This role requires hands-on experience within pharmaceutical wholesale procurement and/or pharmacy retail procurement environments.
- Advanced MS Office proficiency; experience with CRM systems is an advantage; fluent English required, additional European languages a plus.
