Master's thesis in the field of finite element modeling in sealing technology " FEM-based design optimization of a dynamic sealing element based on open source" (f/m/d), 5-6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarization with the basics of sealing technology and dynamic sealing elements based on thermoplastics
  • Familiarization with suitable open source FEM structural mechanics software (e.g. CodeAster, CalculiX)
  • Development of software for automated design optimization (Python)
  • Selection of a design & experimental comparison
  • Optional: Transfer to an ML surrogate model
  • Documentation and interpretation of test results

Qualifications

  • You are studying physics, mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Basics in the areas of FEM, structural mechanics and software development
  • Analytical way of thinking and working
  • Motivation and fun when familiarizing yourself with new topics
  • Teamwork and regular coordination with stakeholders
  • Previous knowledge of relevant open source tools is a plus (e.g. Python, CodeAster, CalculiX, Linux)
  • You have very good spoken and written knowledge of German and/or English
